DOL Issues Regulations For New Federal Paid Sick and Family Leave Law The Department of Labor (“DOL”) has issued a final rule, containing implementing regulations for the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act (“EPSLA”) and the Emergency Family and Medical Leave Act (“EFMLA”) contained within the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (“FFCRA”). This final rule provides additional guidance to employers with fewer than 500 employees who are subject to the paid sick and family leave obligations, and – in certain instances – modifies the prior understanding of what was required to comply with the law. This alert summarizes the major provisions set forth in the new implementing regulations, in addition to prior analysis of the statute and the DOL’s answers to common questions.
