WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (March 25, 2021) – Sands Anderson PC today announced Nathan C. Mortier has joined the firm’s healthcare practice group as Counsel. A full-service healthcare lawyer, Mortier collaborates with healthcare providers to develop new services, navigate ever-changing laws and regulations, and respond to regulatory investigations and government enforcement actions. He will be based in Sands Anderson’s Williamsburg office.
Mortier has more than 10 years of experience in healthcare law. His practice is focused on guiding hospitals and health systems, physician groups, long-term care providers, and other healthcare organizations through the legal questions and challenges that impact their healthcare mission and business.
“Nathan is the perfect complement to our existing healthcare practice because of his deep experience counseling healthcare providers on the laws and regulations that impact their business operations,” said firm president Margaret F. Hardy. “We are thrilled to have him join our team and to be able to provide healthcare organizations with these expanded services.”
Mortier has built up a healthcare practice where he advises healthcare entities in obtaining and maintaining necessary licenses and certifications, developing compliant business relationships, seeking Virginia Certificates of Public Need, and resolving reimbursement audits and appeals. Mortier has special experience in the areas of long-term care regulation, healthcare employment relationships, HIPAA compliance and enforcement, and reimbursement audits and appeals.
Mortier also represents individual clients in responding to complaints, investigations, and disciplinary proceedings before each of Virginia’s health professional licensing boards, including the Board of Medicine, Board of Nursing, Board of Dentistry, Board of Psychology, and others.
In addition to his healthcare practice, Mortier speaks on health law topics regularly, and is a frequent contributor to leading industry periodicals and legal publications.
